There is an old graveyard in the Glendermott valley with graves

dating back to 1671.

There were no records kept of the burials until 1948.  Most of the

headstones are in poor condition.

There is one with a disintegrating headstone with the word " Mowbray"

on it.

There is another close by with the inscription " Here lies the body

of Robert M, who departed life March the ? 1783, aged 77.  The

portion of the stone after the letter M has flaked off. I wonder

could this be the grave of one of the Robert Mowbrays referred to in

the Journals? We shall never know.

Tom, I received the transcriptions of the Cumber records from the presbyterian minister this morning. There are three entries which may be of interest to you but I don't think that they are an exact fit with what you already know.

From Ian. 21 Dec. 2001.

Thomas, I accidently discovered some photocopies of the Donagheady (COI)
records in our local library. They were not good copies but I managed to
find the following in the burial records.

Mary Anne Mowbray, Dunamanagh, buried 12 Feb 1865 aged 75.
Thomas Mowbray, Strabane Union, Buried 23 Feb 1870.aged 75
Leslie Mowbray, Aghafad, buried 19th March 1877 aged 18.
Rachel Mowbry, Aghfad, buried 12 March 1889 age 45, possibly the mother of
Leslie above.

The other entries which I found are already listed in the MJ.

Me to Ian. 22 Dec. 2001.

> John Mulberry (1843-1910?) was from Londonderry.  His mother Mary was from
> the Montgomery Clan - rumoured to be related to descendants of the famous
> General Bernard Montgomery "Monty" of WWII.  At age 16 John fought in the
US
> Civil War where he lost his arm.  He returned to Ireland, and with his
> pension bought a farm 18 miles east of Londonderry near Tenaugh. He
married
> Rachel Shaw from Plum Bridge, 18 miles south of Londonderry.  They had
nine
> children; Martha Jane, Rebecca, John, Rachel, Annie, Sam, Bella, Sissie
and
> Minnie.  Rebecca, John, Sam and Bella eventually emigrated to Canada.
> Minnie moved to England.

I assume also that you know that a Thomas and
John Mowbray were listed as Freehoders in Kildoagh in 1796 but not in 1791
and that a William Mowbray is listed as a stipend payer in Lower Cumber
Presbyterian Church in 1867. Also Thomas Moberry, (Toneduff)  John Mobry and
William Moberry  ( Ardground Upper) are listed as protestant householders in
Cumber 1n 1740.
